Top Stars to Attend Paris Hilton’s Benefit Party

Top Korean celebrities will attend a charity party held by the visiting pop heiress Paris Hilton.

Jeong Woo-seong, Jo In-seong, Lee Jeong-jae, Lee Dong-geon, Ok Joo-hyeon, Jo Yeo-jeong and the female band LPG will attend the party held Friday 9 pm at the Cheongdamdong club ‘The Circle.’

Some 20 celebrities and 50 models received the invitation. A portion of the party’s proceeds will be used to help Korean heart disease patients.

The event’s host The Circle said that “all celebrities invited have confirmed their attendence.”

Meanwhile the female band LPG, which was in Cambodia this week as PR envoys for the NGO Save the Children, has returned home and resumed activities. They are nominated for best female band for the MNET-KM Music Festival opening Nov. 17.

Kim Beom to Appear in Andre Kim’s Fashion Show

Actor Kim Beom will appear in a fashion show by famous designer Andre Kim on Nov. 9.

Themed “Environment and Life,” the designer’s collection will feature a special segment showing a beautiful paradise.

Kim, who will be participating in an Andre Kim show for the second time, says he is honored to participate in the event but that he is also twice as nervous as his first time.

The actor also added that he is happy to participate in a show that is being staged for a good cause and pledged to appear in more charity events in the future.

The show will be held at the KBS Hall in Changwon under the auspices of KBS’ Changwon bureau.

Park to Help Produce Musical Hairspray

Comedian Park Kyung-rim will join the musical ‘Hairspray’ as a producer. She has become a collaborative producer to the production which she watched 15 times on Broadway due to her keen interest in musical production while she studied in the US.

Dubbed the “miracle” of a new style Broadway musical comedy, Hairspray entered Broadway with great fanfare after it premiered in June, 2002 in Seattle.

It received rave reviews since its Broadway debut in August 2002 to grab eight awards at the 2003 Tony’s, including Best Musical.

The musical, characterized by the humor and romance of a 1960s Baltimore, is still hot on Broadway.

Park will be involved in the overall production from casting, sponsorship, publicity to general planning.

Chu Sang-mi and Lee Seok-jun to Tie Knot

Actress Chu Sang-mi will tie the knot with musical actor Lee Seok-jun on Nov. 5.

The two met when they appeared together in a musical in 2003.

The wedding will be held behind closed doors by the wedding agency Lael Wedding owned by comedian Park Su-hong.

After the wedding ceremony, Chu and Lee will leave for Albion Resort in Africa.

Chu debuted in 1994 and has since appeared in many TV shows and movies. Her father is the late theater actor Chu Song-woong and her brother is also an actor.

Lee debuted as a theater actor in 1996 and has played leading and supporting roles in musicals. In 2004 he won the Korea Musical Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Kim Tae-hee Displays Action Skills

Actress Kim Tae-hee has recently shown off impressive action skills that has inspired many to compare her with top Hollywood star Angelina Jolie.

Kim displayed her superb action skills in the movie “Fight,” directed by Han Ji-seung.

It’s a story of a couple who once loved each other greatly but ended up in a fierce fight. “Fight” is reminiscent of the Hollywood movie “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” starring Jolie.

A person from the movie’s production firm said “Fight” has many action scenes and is modeled after “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Playing opposite Seol Kyung- koo, Kim portrays a woman who takes revenge on a man she once loved but whom she now hates.

Comedic Veteran Actress Returns to TV from Big Screen

Veteran actress Kim Soo-mi has expressed strong commitment to the new challenge of starring in a sitcom.

At the production presentation of the new KBS daily sitcom ‘Unstoppable Marriage’ (produced by Lee Gyo-yuk) on Thursday, she declared she would make all Korean viewers return home early from work to watch the drama.

Kim said, “It’s my first TV gig after years of comic roles in film. I’m enjoying the shoot, marked by laughters and many NGs. One thing regrettable is the early air time of 6:50 pm. But I will make 50 million Korean viewers to head home early to catch my drama.”

The sitcom is based on a film of the same title released last year. The film’s two leads Kim and actor Im Chae-woo were also cast for the sitcom.

Seo Taeji’s Comeback

The ’90s idol pop artist Seo Taeji will return in March with his 8th album. But he will first release a 15th anniversary debut album, which will include news songs, on Nov. 29 and reunite with fans after four years.

The record industry, mired in a slump, is keen on his comeback.Plans on the 8th album release in March and a solo concert in December have reportedly been finalized. Yedang Entertainment is known to have coordinated the scheduling with Seo.

The concept of the new album is being kept a secret which is further raising fans’ anticipitation and curiosity.

Attention is now focused on how Seo’s new album will perform in the stagnant record market.

Kim Rae-won Sends Message of Hope to World’s Children

Actor Kim Rae-won has joined UNICEF’s activities aimed at helping children worldwide.

Kim has been named a UNICEF Card mentor for 2007-2008 for his upbeat and admirable image created through his acting roles.

The actor plans to participate in various UNICEF activities to help children worldwide. His appointment was praised by designer Andre Kim, UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador, and special representative Kim Mi-hwa. After the appointment ceremony, Kim and members of his fan club wrote messages of hope for children on a large UNICEF card.

Kim Ah-joong Receives ’2007 Elle Award’

Actress Kim Ah-joong has once again proven that she is one of Asia’s hottest female stars. The 2007 Elle Style Award Asia, held in Hong Kong on October 26, presented Kim with an award in the ‘Hot Face’ category.

Each year, a panel of judges and fans hold a vote to pick their favorite celebrity for the ‘Hot Face’ category.

Upon receiving the award, Kim said it is an honor to be able to take part in an event attended by numerous stars that represent Asia. She also promised to work harder in the future.

The 2007 Elle Style Award Asia is held each year to present awards to artists and stars in the Asian region for their outstanding performance in their respective fields throughout the year.

Poppin Hyun Joon Receives Offer to Debut in U.S.

Singer Poppin Hyun Joon, who is preparing to launch his career in China, has received an offer to debut in the U.S. from James Sun, the CEO of Zoodango.com and the runner-up winner of the U.S. TV show “The Apprentice 6.”

Sun lauded Poppin Hyun Joon for his impressive dancing skills saying that they are excellent enough to gain him recognition from mainstream U.S. society and that he stands a high chance of succeeding in America.

Sources also say that the singer has received several offers from Hollywood. In July, he received an offer to play a support role in the sequel of the popular Hollywood movie “Step Up.”

The singer’s agency says Poppin Hyun Joon has gained popularity for his superb dancing skills not only in Korea but abroad as well thanks to his passion and arduous efforts. The agency added that the singer will expand his presence overseas after debuting in China.
